12th February 2005 Windsurfing: Golf Course Car park, Ynyslas Wind Direction: NW Wind Stength: 20-30 knots Surf / Sea State: 4 foot messy surf Air Temperature: 12∫C Sea Temperature: 9∫C Weather: Sunny spells and squally showers Max Speed: 22.7 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 4.1 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Woohoo...what a session! Well powered up the whole time with the 5m and my wave board. Just perfect. Completely overpowered when the squalls came through bu they were few and far between. AndayW was out but he stayed in pretty close to the shore, Larry was out kitesurfing but also generally stayed in close. I had loads of runs out the back, and it was pretty hardcore out there. I little more wind than close in and some monster swells. Some of them were mast high so it was quite a rush being in amongst them. I was playing it easy most of the time though and not going for too many big jumps. That said, I did sneak in the odd big jump here and there...A few of which I bailed out of! Had some nice wave rides as well, although once again I played it safe on the big waves out the back. Loads of wind, loads of waves and a pretty exhausting session.. Full-on!!...Looks like its going to be even windier tomorrow! Unfortunately my GPS receiever seesm unable to cope with the battering it gets in those sorts of conditions and kept switching itself off so it only registered 4.1nm of my session, but I did manage a 22.7 knot max speed during that time. I'm sure a few runs towards the end were a little faster though. |
